New Pulitzer Prize rules straight up call out databases.

From the Pulitzer rule changes announcement:

entries may use any available journalistic tool, including text reporting, videos, databases, multimedia or interactive presentations or any combination of those formats.

Especially cool about the databases part. (We know what they meant :D.)

It's been over five years since Adrian Holovaty's awesome chicagocrime.org. Since then, everyblock.com happened, (not to mention a straight up competitive rivalry among city mayors to open/ make available more civic data.)

Sidebar: was just having a conversation about programming not being an occupational specialty, but increasingly part of general literacy. Like say, for journalists.

Something about this picture appealed to the Internet romantic in me. How audience, press, government, and stakeholder are indistinguishable.
Something something World is Flat.
